Opening art studio by Robert Carbonell       Press Realease Press Release Robert Carbonell has been interested in abstract art since he was very young. He is a self-taught painter and found his early inspiration in the work of Russian artist, Wassily Kandinsky. Over the years Carbonell has discovered his personal style, creating layered abstractions that display a penchant for experimentations with color and texture. His intriguing approach to texture is the hallmark of his style, blending thin washes and viscous strokes of acrylic paint over underlying collage elements. Characteristics of each successive layer come forth and interact with each other, having the appearance of being worn by exposure to the elements. Each piece is unique because of the experimental nature of Carbonell’s process; the disparate elements and techniques combine for a unique visual statement. The response in the art world to Carbonell’s work has been very positive, lining up a full schedule of exhibitions in Madrid, Barcelona, New York, London and Hamburg. He lives and works in Barcelona.
