Johnny Depp was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, June 9th 1963. He lived most of his life in Florida where he gained a interest in music. He even dropped out of school when he 15 years old to pursue his dream of being a rock star. He made progress in the music world playing a garage band named The Kids. Depp’s former wife Lori Anne Allison wife introduced Depp to rising star Nicolas Cage. Cage encouraged Depp to act and he landed a roll in A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). He got his big break in 1987 when a replacement was needed for Jeff Yagher in the T.V. show “21 Jump Street” (1987).

To the average person the life of a television star seems like a glamorous occupation. But many actors signed to long term contracts feel more imprisoned than privileged. Johnny Depp was so miserable on 21 Jump Street (1987-1992) he actually tried to get fired, pulling stunts like lighting his underwear on fire on the set. Speaking years later about finally getting off the detective show, he said,” I was like Mandela, man.”From then on he starred in several roles including three films with director Tim Burton. Burton and Depp found success in Edward Scissorhands (1990). This film started what would be Depp’s niche in the movie world, a serious, dark actor with good range. Before re-unting with Burton again he would do several small roles that helped hoim gain popularity. He teamed up with Burton again and they filmed Ed Wood (1994). After he appeared in four major movies including Donnie Brasco (1997), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998), The Astronaut’s Wife (1999) and then teamed up with Burton again to do Sleepy Hollow (1999). He would go on to play in From Hell (2001) and and star in the Robert Rodriguez’s Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003).

Since then, Depp has played more kid friendly roles as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Carribbean Trilogy. He played famous novel writed James Berrie in Finding Neverland (2004) before starring in the movie adpation of Roal Dahl’s famous Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005). Ironically as a child, Depp was very allergic to Chocolate.Johnny Depp fell in love with France while shooting the Ninth Gate here in 1998. Today, locals regularly spot him picnicking with his family, shopping for veggies at the village market and riding around the countryside on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He spends 6 months a year when not filming living happily in a village in France with his wife Vanessa Paradis former Chanel girl and their 2 children, Jack and Lily-Rose. Mildly eccentric he does not allow his children to be photographed. He also owned a popular night club called the Viper Room in Los Angeles. The viper room is infamous for being the death place of River Phoenix, the rising star brother of Joaquin Phoenix, who overdosed on drugs.

Johnny Depp is known for his strange characters and rebellious attitude while at the same time being a critically acclaimed actor.
